Imeacht Liteartha - Saothar Máltaise aistrithe go Gaeilge agus go Béarla á léamh in Áras na Scríbhneoirí

GA CUIREADH: Ba mhór agam, thar ceann Ionadaíochtaí an Choimisiúin Eorpaigh in Éirinn agus i Málta agus thar ceann Ard-Stiúrthóireacht an Aistriúcháin, cuireadh a chur ort bheith i láthair ar a 6 i.n. an 17 Meitheamh 2013 in Áras na Scríbhneoirí, 19 Cearnóg Parnell, Baile Átha Cliath le haghaidh ócáid liteartha ar leith ina léifear amach sleachta as saothar an údair Mháltaise Alfred Sant.  Príomh-Aire Mhálta a bhí in Alfred Sant ó 1996 go dtí 1998 ach is mar údar próis is mó atá clú anois air agus lear leabhar agus aistí i gcló aige.

Tá an ócáid seo ann mar chuid de cheiliúradh Uachtaránacht na hÉireann ar Chomhairle an Aontais Eorpaigh. Beidh an t-údar féin i láthair lena shaothar a léamh sa Mháltais.  Léifear an saothar i nGaeilge agus i mBéarla freisin ag an ócáid uathúil seo agus beidh deis ann do dhaoine ceisteanna a chur faoina shaothar.
Is é an Dr Lillis Ó Laoire, Ceann na dTeangacha, Coláiste na hOllscoile, Gaillimh a léifidh an saothar i nGaeilge agus is í an Dr Annette Schiller, léachtóir san aistriúchán agus iarchathaoirleach ar Chumann Aistritheoirí agus Teangairí na hÉireann a léifidh na sleachta i mBéarla.

EN INVITATION: On behalf of the European Commission Representations in Ireland and Malta and on behalf of the Directorate General for Translation, it is with great pleasure that I am inviting you to be present at 6 p.m. on 17th June 2013 at the Irish Writers Centre, 19 Parnell Square, Dublin for a special literary occasion where selected pieces of work from the Maltese Author Alfred Sant will be read out.  Alfred Sant was the Prime Minister of Malta from 1996 to 1998 but it is mainly as an author of prose that he is best known nowadays, with many books and essays now in print.

This occasion is part of the celebration of Ireland's Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The author will be present to read his work in Maltese. The work will be read in Irish and English also at this unique event and there will be an opportunity for people to ask questions.
Dr Lillis Ó Laoire, Head of Languages at University College, Galway will read the work in Irish and Dr Annette Schiller, lecturer in translation and former chair of the Irish Translators and Interpreters Association will read the work in English.
 
Tea / coffee and refreshments will be available.
