Scaradh le AE

Scaradh

San aisling dúinn ag dul in éag
An domhan go léir i bhfad i gcéin;
Do dhlaoithe ag rince ar feadh an lae,
Monabhar do bhrollaigh bhí go séimh.

Os comhair a chéile ár gcuntanós
Ar chiumhais na sféar, a méid nach eol,
Ár leiceann ina ndrúcht ar rós
Is cumhracht rian goirt na ndeor.

San aisling chiúin ar mhullach bán
Go dlúth istigh sa Mháthair-chroí
Gur éiríomar chun slán a rá
Mar tá na bealaí aici síoraí.

George William (“A. E.”) Russell (1867–1935).

Collected Poems by A.E.  1913.

Parting

AS from our dream we died away
Far off I felt the outer things;
Your wind-blown tresses round me play,
Your bosom’s gentle murmurings.

And far away our faces met
As on the verge of the vast spheres;
And in the night our cheeks were wet,
I could not say with dew or tears.

As one within the Mother’s heart
In that hushed dream upon the height
We lived, and then we rose to part,
Because her ways are infinite.

JM Synge: Do na Daracha i nGleann Crí

Do na Daracha i nGleann Crí

Mo dhá lámh i do thimpeall, dlúth leat atáim
agus an fhuiseog go hard sa spéir
ag canadh dúinn, soilse órga go sámh
is glas-scáileanna ar do choirt go léir.

Tiocfaidh an t-am is leathfaidh tú do chlár
duairc orm is mé i mo luí
i Reilig Chnoc Ieróim, ainniseoir gan aird
i dteannta na bpéisteanna go síoraí.

To the Oaks of Glencree

J M Synge

My arms are round you, and I lean
Against you, while the lark
Sings over us, and golden lights, and green
Shadows are on your bark.

There'll come a season when you'll stretch
Black boards to cover me;
Then in Mount Jerome I will lie, poor wretch,
With worms eternally.

The Quest/ An Cuardach

THE QUEST

James H. Cousins

THEY said: ‘She dwelleth in some place apart,
Immortal Truth, within whose eyes
Who looks may find the secret of the skies
And healing for life’s smart!’

I sought Her in loud caverns underground,--
On heights where lightnings flashed and fell;
I scaled high Heaven; I stormed the gates of Hell,
But Her I never found

Till thro’ the tumults of my Quest I caught
A whisper: ‘Here, within thy heart,
I dwell; for I am thou: behold, thou art
The Seeker--and the Sought.’

AN CUARDACH

Ar siad: Tá cónaí uirthi i bhfad i gcéin
An Fhírinne Shíoraí, agus ina súil
Tá mistéir uile na ndúl
Dóibh siúd atá i bpéin.

Lorgaíos i bpluaiseanna glóracha Í
Is fós sa tintreach i measc na mbeann
Dhreapas go neamh is sheas ar leac na bpian,
Ach ní raibh Sí ann

Go dtí gur thug mo Chuardach mé
Go ciúin faoi dhéin mo chroí:
‘Anseo atáim, ionatsa féin
Go brách is go síoraí!’

Is iad na mná / são as mulheres que

Is iad na mná

Bénédicte Houart (1968 - )

Is iad na mná
a chuireann na hoinniúin ag gol
faoi mar a bheadh a mbeatha féin scafa acu
agus gur aimsíodar is iad ag éirí níos cruinne
aon cholainn amháin, a gcolainn féin
aon bheatha amháin, a mbeatha féin,
ach fós féin nár leo féin
in aon chor iad
nó b’fhéidir gurbh ea, nó b’fhéidir díreach
an braoinín uisce sin a bhreac
cúinne a naprúin agus bláth geal d’éadach
a chuir bachlóg amach, bláth nach raibh
trí thine ann an lá roimh ré

são as mulheres que

são as mulheres que
fazem chorar as cebolas
como se descascassem a própria vida
e, arredondando-se então, descobrissem
um corpo, o seu
uma vida, a sua
e, no entanto, nada que de verdade
pudessem seu chamar
ou talvez sim, mas só
aquela gota de água salpicando
um canto do avental onde
desponta uma flor de pano colorida que
ainda ontem ali não ardia
