Maidin ar Bith

Any Morning

Just lying on the couch and being happy.
Only humming a little, the quiet sound in the head.
Trouble is busy elsewhere at the moment, it has
so much to do in the world.

People who might judge are mostly asleep; they can't
monitor you all the time, and sometimes they forget.
When dawn flows over the hedge you can
get up and act busy.

Little corners like this, pieces of Heaven
left lying around, can be picked up and saved.
People won't even see that you have them,
they are so light and easy to hide.

Later in the day you can act like the others.
You can shake your head. You can frown.

Maidin ar Bith

I mo luí ar an tolg ar mo sháimhín suilt.
Ag portaireacht beagán, glór ciúin sa cheann.
Trioblóidí gnóthach in áit eile faoi láthair,
tá a ndóthain le déanamh acu i ndomhnach.

Is ina gcodladh is mó atá an lucht breithiúnais: ní thig leo
monatóireacht sheasta a dhéanamh ort. Dearúdann siad uaireanta.
Nuair a shnámhann an chamhaoir thar an bhfál
éirigh is cuir cruth ort féin.

Prochóga beaga mar seo, píosaí Neimhe
ina luí thart, is fuirist iad a phiocadh suas is a choigilt.
Ní thabharfaidh daoine faoi ndeara iad,
táid chomh héadrom sin is fuirist iad a cheilt.

Féadann tú a bheith ar nós cách ar ball.
do cheann a chroitheadh. Muc ar gach mala.

ONIE MORNIN

Juist liggin on the sofa quite joco.
Anely bummin a wee, the quate soond i the heid.
Fasherie's thrang ithergates the nou,
its got owermuckle tae dae i the warl.

Fowk whae micht jeedge'r maistly doverin; they cannae
chack ye aw the tyme, sumtymes they foryet.
Whan daw fleets ower the hedge ye can heave up
an act eydently.

Peerie neuks lik this, bitties o Heiven
quat tae ligg aroon, can be gaithert an hained.
Folk wullnae e'en ken ye hae thaim,
thay'r sae licht an no ill tae dern.

Later on ye can act lik the ithers.
Ye can shak yer heid, ye can glower.
