Draíocht agus Míorúilti
Ní mór duit géilleadh do mhíorúiltí:aingil, sióga, éanlaith a labhrann, murúcha,
fia-chailleacha, bocánaigh, abhaic, deamhain, vaimpírí,
íocshláinte na síoraíochta, taibhsí, clóca na dofheictheachta,
arrachtaigh tharbh-chabhlacha, bandraoithe nathair-fholtacha,
déithe eilifint-cheannacha, capaill dhaon-chabhlacha,
satairí crúbacha, laochra ilghéagacha,
an seaman, an t-ailceimiceoir, an bhean feasa dhall, an fáidh criostail,
duilleoga tae a chomhaireamh, scrúdú ionathair, eitilt na
n-éan a thomhas,
cabala, cártaí Tarot, réaltchomharthaí, an briocht, an snáth beannaithe,
ofráil túise, coinnle, gais arbhair, dlaoithe gruaige,
dul in eadarbhuas, cairpéid draíochta, meaisíní ama, sásair eitilte,
Batman, Spiderman, Superman,
athionchollú, trócaire, grá,
agus nithe eile nach iad
chun teacht slán
mar fhile
nó fágfaidh dia bodhar an réasúin, an bhreithiúnais
agus an chloig ghréine
i do bhalbhán thú.

You must believe in miraclesangels, fairies, talking birds, mermaids, witches, goblins, dwarfs, demons, vampires,
elixir of eternity, ghosts, cloak of invisibility,
bull-bodied monsters, snake-haired sorceresses,
elephant-headed deities, human-trunked horses,
goat-footed satyrs, thousand-armed heroes,
shamans, alchemists, blind fortune tellers, crystal gazers,
counting of tea leaves, exploring entrails, divining bird flights,
cabbala, Tarot-cards, zodiac signs, amulets, sacred threads,
offerings of incense, candles, cornstalks, hair locks,
levitation, soaring carpets, time-machines, flying saucers,
Batman, Spiderman, Superman,
reincarnation, mercy, love
and many more things
to survive
as a poet
otherwise the deaf god of reason, judgement and sundials
will strike you dumb.
